Why do you require exclusivity for music?

We want to provide our members with the best experience possible when using our service. The Content ID system on YouTube is well intentioned, but it causes a lot of issues for customers who use royalty-free music frequently.

We found that exclusivity is the best way for us to provide our members with great music from high quality artists and eliminate the issue of false copyright claims on properly licensed customer projects. We register exclusive music with Content ID and automatically whitelist our members’ YouTube channels so that they can use Storyblocks music without worrying about disputing claims. If there is unlicensed use of your tracks, we are able to monetize this and share 60% of the revenue as additional earnings for you on our platform.

As an artist with Storyblocks, you can submit your YouTube channel, or channels that promote your music, to be whitelisted from claims as well (up to 25 channels per year).

While we are the exclusive license provider for these tracks, you can absolutely continue to distribute your tracks on streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, etc.
